Search and filters#
There are two places to search in the administration, and they do different things.
Search in the header#
The Hledat v administraci… (search the administration) field at the top right searches records across modules. Useful when you know what you are looking for but not where it lives.
You can jump into the field from anywhere with the keyboard shortcut ⌘ K (Mac) or Ctrl K (Windows, Linux).
Searching starts at 2 characters. The results always match what is in the field
right now — a late answer to an older query is discarded. When nothing is found, you
see Nic nenalezeno (nothing found); when the search fails (an outage, a server
error), you see Vyhledávání se nepodařilo načíst (the search could not be loaded)
and the error is written to the admin-search log.
Filters in a list#
Every table has its own filters. They search within that one area and offer exactly the criteria that make sense for the given list.
Where you find the filters depends on the Zobrazení filtrů v přehledech (filter layout in lists) option in Administration settings. The option applies to all lists and all users; the filters work the same in all three variants, only the layout differs.

Searching is triggered by the Hledat (Search) button.
A range does not have to be complete
One side is enough. A "from" without a "to" means everything from this value upwards.
The separate search panel#
With this variant chosen, there is a Vyhledávání a řazení button above the table. The button shows the number of active filters. Active filters are listed above the table even while the panel is closed — you can see at once that the list is not complete.
Procedure: search and sort in the panel#
- Click Vyhledávání a řazení. The Vyhledávání a filtry (search and filters) panel opens.
- Fill in the filter fields and confirm with Hledat.
- To change the order, choose Řadit podle (sort by) and Směr řazení (sort direction — Vzestupně ascending, Sestupně descending) in the panel. The list is re-sorted as soon as you choose.
- Close the panel with the same button. The values you filled in stay.
Filters add up#
Fill in several fields and only records matching all conditions are listed. It is not an "either/or" search.
This is the most common reason a list unexpectedly comes back empty — a value left over from an earlier search sits in one of the fields.
Clearing a filter#
Empty the fields, switch the dropdowns back to Vše and confirm with Hledat.
In the separate search panel you clear all filters at once with the Zrušit filtry (clear filters) button next to the list of active filters.
A filter survives leaving the page
Leave a list and come back and the filter may still be set. It looks as though records vanished from the system. Before hunting for a bug, check the filter fields, or the list of active filters above the table.
Filters and bulk actions#
A bulk action does not apply to the whole filtered result — only to the rows you have ticked on the currently displayed page.
A dangerous combination
Filter, tick, then change the filter, and only then run the bulk action. The ticks stay but may now refer to different rows than you expect. With deletion that is irreversible — always re-check the selection after changing a filter.
Why the counts differ from the site#
A list in the administration shows every record you are entitled to see — including hidden ones, unpublished ones and those past their validity. A visitor on the site sees only a subset.
So "120 products in the administration" versus "96 on the site" is not necessarily a fault.
