PDF templates#

How the documents the system produces look — mainly invoices.

Find them under Systém → PDF šablony and → Rozvržení PDF.

Three levels#

Level What it sets
Layout the page — margins, header, footer; one is the default
Template the kind of document
Variant the specific form — language, region, customer type

Why variants

An invoice for a Slovak VAT payer needs different texts from one for a Czech individual. The variant is that specific form; which one is used is decided by the invoicing PDF layouts.

Appearance#

The appearance is governed by the styling on the variant and on the layout.

A PDF behaves differently from a web page

Something looking right in a browser does not mean it comes out that way in the PDF. Generate a test document after every edit and open it.

Check long documents too

A two-page document reveals header and footer problems a one-pager does not. Issue a test invoice with twenty lines.

The default layout#

One of the layouts is marked as the default.

Without a layout no PDF is produced

The invoice saves but stays without a file — and nothing reports it. Which layout is used for invoices is in the invoicing settings.

Changing a template#

Old documents do not regenerate themselves

The change applies to newly created PDFs. To carry it into an old document, produce its PDF again — which overwrites the original.

Deleting a variant#

Deleting a variant empties its slot in the matrix and shows as a document with no PDF

The combination in the table that used that variant is left with none selected — nothing else takes its place, not even the default. The invoice then saves without a PDF and nothing reports it beyond the log. After deleting a variant, go through the PDF layouts where it was used.
