Module settings#
How the company directory behaves — listing lengths, validity, approval and confirmation of profiles, location, watchdogs and images. You will find it under Company directory → Settings.
The page is split into four tabs: General, Behavior, Watchdogs and Images. The General, Behavior and Watchdogs tabs are saved with one shared button below the form, so you save the changes from all three at once. The Images tab has its own Save images button. After saving you stay on the tab you were working on.
General#

Behavior#

Validity#
The category's validity takes precedence
The value in the settings is only a fallback. If you set validity per trade, nothing here needs changing.
Automatic approval#
The switch decides whether a new profile waits for your approval:

Confirming through the link in an e-mail is a separate matter and this switch does not change it — see Confirmation by email link.
A company directory without approval fills up
Company directories are a favourite target for automated posting. On a public directory keep automatic approval off and approve profiles yourself — otherwise within a week it fills with listings that have nothing to do with your field.
Confirmation by email link#
Confirmation is the author clicking a link in an e-mail — which proves the profile is theirs and the address is real. It is not the same as approval: you approve, the author confirms. It is set separately for two groups of authors:

So you can, for example, ask people without an account for the link and not ask account holders. The confirmation link also works without logging in, and clicking it again does no harm. If the profile is still waiting for approval or payment, the site says so after the click.
The setting decides only at the moment of posting
The switches apply to records posted after the change. Records already posted are neither hidden nor published by flipping a switch — an unconfirmed one stays unconfirmed, a confirmed one stays confirmed.
When a profile is visible on the site
When it is paid (if the category is paid), approved and confirmed. If any of these is missing, it is not on the site. After posting, the author is told what it is waiting for.
Precise address#
The switch in the Company location section (General tab) decides where the location comes from when the record is saved. The default is on.

Without a filled-in street the municipality centre is used even when the switch is on. When Google does not find the address, the municipality centre is used too. For the lookup to work the Google Maps card needs a working key, see Maps and address lookup.
Where to see what was not found
When no location arises on saving (the municipality is not in the data, Google does not know
the address and the municipality is missing), a line is written to the file
log/geocoding-miss.log — the module, the record number, the municipality, the postcode and
the reason. The server administrator goes through the file: it is usually a typo in the
address.
Watchdogs#
A watchdog is a visitor's saved search: when a record that matches it appears, they get an e-mail.

Every mode except off needs a scheduler job running: immediately and the legacy mode need Watchdog: immediate e-mails (company profiles), daily digest needs Watchdog: daily digest (company profiles).
The legacy mode no longer sends on insert
The former “Immediately on insert” mode no longer sends the e-mail right when the record is inserted. The e-mail waits in the queue and the Watchdog: immediate e-mails job sends it once the record is active (approved, confirmed, paid). An unapproved or unpaid record is therefore never announced to watchdogs. Without the job running no e-mails arrive.
The length of the watchdog list is set on the General tab (Watchdogs per page).
Images#
The Images tab: for each usage of an image (listing, category) you tick the variants of resized copies, give them an alias (the folder name) and choose whether the original is kept. The size and watermark of the individual variants are managed in Settings → Image variants. The tab has its own Save images button.
Changes apply only to newly uploaded images
Files already stored stay as they are.
What the scheduled tasks take care of#

Without the scheduled tasks listings never expire
Companies that stopped paying stay in the directory forever — and because expiry is not one of the visibility conditions, they keep being displayed normally. Check with your administrator that the tasks are running.
