Shared modules / Comments

Comments#

Discussion under content. They work the same under an article, a news item, a product or an advert — it is one shared component.

Find them under Sdílené moduly → Komentáře.

Thread and comment#

A thread belongs to one piece of content — one article, one product. A comment is a post in a thread. The thread shows the content type and the comment count.

A thread is created automatically, before the first comment

It is not created by hand, but it also does not wait for a first comment — the system creates it the moment you first save the content (article, product, book…). An empty thread with no comments at all is therefore normal, not a bug.

Approval#

Depending on the settings, a comment appears either at once or only after approval.

Start a new site with approval on

Until you see what people write, it is better to let it past you first. Once it is clear no spam is coming, you can turn approval off.

An unapproved comment is seen by nobody, not even its author

The site only shows approved, non-deleted comments, with no exception for whoever wrote it. After submitting, they just get a generic thank-you; if they refresh the page, their comment is not there until you approve it.

Reported comments#

The \"Report\" link on the site does nothing yet

It is in the template, but stays hidden and has no handler behind it — readers cannot flag a comment with it yet. The Reported flag can currently only be set by an administrator, by hand, in the comment's edit form.

Reporting hides nothing by itself

It is only a signal to you. If it were enough to remove a comment, it would be abused.

Deleting#

A comment has a single toggle — Delete / Restore. It is a soft delete: a deleted comment disappears from the site but stays in the administration (just without a visible text, until you restore it). There is no separate "disable" as a second, distinct state.

Deletion is reversible — use it freely on contentious posts

The Restore button brings the comment back with its text. It is not a permanent deletion.

Anonymous comments#

Anyone can comment without logging in — there is no way to turn this off. A guest fills in a name and an email.

Nothing at all is verified on anonymous comments

The email is not required and its format is not checked — it can hold anything, even nothing. Treat the name and email as whatever the guest typed, not as a verified identity.
