Categories and parameters#
Two things that together decide what the posting form looks like.
Parameters#
A parameter is one form field. Create them under Inzerce → Parametry.
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Key | the unique designation; some are reserved |
| Input type | text, number, select, date, price, file, opening hours… |
| Type in search | the filter may use a different one than the form |
| Required | |
| Has options | for selects |
| Default value | |
| Group | how fields are grouped in the form |
| Active | |
| Default parameter | offered to all categories automatically |
Reserved keys#
The system relies on name, price, email and regionId. See the
module overview.
Select options#
Options are records subordinate to the parameter. They are created beneath it.
Deleting a parameter takes all its options with it
And with them the values in every advert that used them. Disable an unwanted parameter rather than deleting it.
Filtering#
Each parameter sets how it behaves in the filter — whether all ticked values must match, or any of them.
For colours and brands you want any
Somebody ticking blue and red wants to see both, not only adverts that are both at once.
Content filtering#
A parameter can police what people write into it — banning links or words from your own list. The replacement is always silent, only the timing differs: either right on save (the database ends up with already-cleaned text), or only on display (the database keeps the raw text, and it is cleaned only on the detail page, in meta tags, and in the specification).
The system does not show the user an error
Banned content is silently replaced with [URL] or [***]. If you want to check
whether the filter caught something, you have to check the result — no error
message arrives.
Banning links in the description is worth it
Otherwise a classifieds board quickly fills with links to other websites.
Display rules#
A field can be shown only under certain conditions — engine size only for cars, say. Display rules and linked selects are what do it.
Categories#
Created under Inzerce → Kategorie. They form a tree and are moved by dragging.
| Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Name, URL, description | per language |
| Parent category | |
| Free | an advert in it is not paid for |
| Credits | the price in credits |
| Advert validity in days | how long it lasts |
| Administrator only | an ordinary user cannot post into it |
| Preferred | highlighted in listings |
| Active |
Prices#
The price is entered per combination of region + payment gateway. A separate price can be set for visitors who are not logged in.
Ticking Free hides the price table but does not clear it
The prices are still saved. Untick the flag later and the original values appear — go through them.
Category parameters#
Either the default parameters are used, or you target your own at the category. Each one specifies whether it is required and whether it also appears in search.
Start with the default parameters
Custom targeting makes sense for categories that genuinely differ — cars need other fields than books. Elsewhere it is extra work.
Pushing down to subcategories#
Both prices and parameters offer an option that carries the setting into the whole subtree.
Pushing down overwrites ALL subcategories without asking
Individual subcategory settings disappear and cannot be brought back. On a large tree, check what sits underneath before you change anything.
Advert validity#
A category has its own number of days. If an advert sits in several, the longest applies. If none of them sets a value, the module settings are used.
The advert counter#
A category shows a number of adverts; a parent includes its subcategories. It is a stored figure that is recalculated periodically.
A brief mismatch after posting is normal
After an advert is posted the count settles at the next recalculation, not immediately.
Deleting a category#
The whole subtree goes with it
Every subcategory disappears alongside it. Disable an unused category instead.
