Categories and parameters#
The catalogue's trades and the fields filled in for a company.
Parameters#
They work exactly as in the classifieds. A parameter is one form field — with a key, an input type and possibly options. The rules for a disabled parameter and a disabled option, coordinates from the address (Always regenerate) and forbidden words apply here too — the list of forbidden words is one for the whole site and is checked by the page language.
The types most useful in a company catalogue:

Text fields can have a Max. number of characters — the form refuses a longer text and shows a counter at the field (details in the classifieds). Default limits: company name 150 characters, description 10,000.
Make the company number a text field, not a number
A numeric field swallows a leading zero and a company whose number starts with one no longer matches.
Search#
Each parameter specifies whether it also appears in the filter, and which field type it uses there.
Put trade, region and open-now in the filter
People will not work through more than that. The rest belongs on the detail.
Categories#
The catalogue's trades. They form a tree and are moved by dragging.

Extending and renewing the validity works as in the classifieds: the new validity is counted from the current one (if it lies in the future), otherwise from today, and in a paid category the company moves it only by paying (the Extend with payment / Renew with payment button).
The category counter does not update instantly
The number of companies is a stored figure settled at the periodic recalculation.
Prices#
Entered per combination of region + payment gateway.

Clearing a cell removes that price from the price list.
Ticking Free hides the price table but does not clear it
The prices are still saved and reappear when the flag is unticked. Go through them.
Category parameters#
Either the default parameters or your own targeting. Each one specifies whether it is required and whether it also appears in search.
Trades differ more than you expect
A restaurant needs cuisine and a terrace; a garage needs brands and services. Custom targeting makes more sense here than in the classifieds.
Pushing down to subcategories#
Pushing down overwrites ALL subcategories without asking
Prices and parameter targeting alike. There is no way back.
Deleting a category#
A category can be deleted in the category tree even when companies are listed in it. Its whole subtree goes with it.
Procedure: delete a category#
- Open Katalog firem → Kategorie.
- Choose delete for the category (or select several categories and delete them in bulk).
- Read the confirmation question: "Really delete this category including all subcategories? Company profiles listed only in the deleted categories will lose their categorisation."
- Confirm.
Profiles are not deleted. A profile also listed in another trade stays there; a profile listed only in the deleted categories is left without a category.
The whole subtree goes with it
Profiles in the subcategories lose their categorisation too. Disable an unused trade instead.
