Classifieds / Tariffs and payments

Tariffs and payments#

Two different things are paid for in the classifieds module.

What Where the price comes from
A listing in a paid category the category price list
Promotion a tariff

A paid category#

A category carries a price per combination of region and payment gateway, and optionally a separate one for visitors who are not logged in. A category marked as free is not paid for.

An advert in several categories need only be paid for in one

If at least one of its categories is free or settled, the advert shows.

Extending the validity in a paid category is paid again

The advertiser extends or renews the validity only by paying another period of the category — it is enough for any of the advert's categories to be paid. The payment moves the validity by the category's number of days and the end-of-validity notice comes again. Details in Categories.

Promotion#

A promoted advert is sorted to the top of listings. It is bought as a tariff with a validity period.

Promotion is delivered by one specific tariff

It is not an option on any tariff — the system has a designated tariff that means promotion. Other tariffs do not extend it.

Tariff What the customer gets
Topbox For the validity period the advert shows in the "TOP" side panel on the module pages.
Show links Web addresses in the advert text are clickable links on the detail (search engines do not follow them).

Without the tariff an address in the description shows as [URL] when the parameter has the link filter in the "on render" mode. With "on save" the address is already removed in the database and the tariff cannot bring it back — see Categories and parameters.

The tariff and the document#

The VAT charged for promotion and the kind of document created are governed by a single tariff field — Druh plnění (supply kind) on the Základní (basic) tab.

Field What it is for If left empty
Druh plnění (supply kind) what the tariff sells for VAT purposes (e.g. an electronically supplied service); together with the seller's status and the customer's country it decides the VAT rate and the kind of document — see Taxes the tariff cannot be saved — the field is required and the form reports "Vyberte druh plnění." (select a supply kind)

No VAT percentage is entered on the tariff. The rate comes from the pair supply kind × country as of the date of supply and is managed under Platby a měny → Daně — see Supply kinds and rates.

The Typ produktu (fakturace) and Sazba DPH (%) fields are gone from the form

The supply kind replaced them. An older tariff keeps its product type and saving does not change it; a new tariff gets one from the nature of its supply kind — goods → Zboží (goods), anything else → Služba (service). The product type still helps pick the document layout. An older tariff with no supply kind yet is charged with the default supply kind from Taxes; you have to choose one the first time you edit it.

A supply kind with no rate in the customer's country = the tariff cannot be paid for

If Taxes has no rate for the supply kind and the country the tax is worked out for, the payment form shows the customer "Cenu s DPH se teď nepodařilo spočítat. Zkuste to prosím za chvíli znovu." (the price incl. VAT could not be calculated right now) and refuses to submit. After choosing a supply kind, check it has rates in every country you sell to.

Tariff prices are entered excluding VAT

Whether and by how much the entered price is raised at payment is decided by the system from the supply kind, the seller's status and the customer. When VAT is charged, the payment form shows the price incl. VAT with the base "excl. VAT" under it; a seller who is not VAT registered charges the entered price unchanged. In detail in Tariffs and membership. Premium SMS is the exception — see below.

What happens after payment#

  1. The payment moves to paid.
  2. The advert's categories are marked as settled.
  3. The advert's expiry is moved on.
  4. Promotion is extended, if it was a promotion tariff.

Extension only goes up

A payment never shortens validity the advert already has. Pay twice and you get the sum.

Manual intervention#

You find the advert's payment items on the Platby tab of its edit form, and all of them together under Inzerce → Platby. Each item carries a tariff, Valid until and an Active switch. The advert's promotion is calculated from its active items — and is recalculated after every manual change:

What you do What happens to the promotion
add an item it is extended
delete an item it is recalculated without it, possibly to nothing
switch Active off (in the form and with the switch in the payment list alike) it is recalculated as if the item did not exist
change the item's Advert to another one it is recalculated for both the new and the original one

Procedure: move a payment to another advert#

  1. Open Inzerce → Platby and choose edit on the item.
  2. In the Advert field, pick the right advert.
  3. Save. The promotion is recalculated for both.

Removing or switching off an item shortens the promotion

Unlike paying, a manual change counts in both directions — remove or switch off an item and the promotion is recalculated downwards, possibly to nothing.

Handle compensation by adding an item, not by overwriting a date

An added item is traceable. A hand-typed date is not, and the next payment recalculates it anyway.

The tariff price list: what you fill in is what applies#

Tariff prices are entered under Inzerce → Tarify, in the tariff form on the Price list tab. For every payment region there is a row for each payment gateway. The price is stored in the currency the gateway uses in that region — exactly the one the payment form on the website looks for.

Price-list element What it is for
Sazba DPH (VAT rate; a select on each region) pre-filled with Výchozí DPH (%) (default VAT) from the invoicing settings; stored on every price of the region. It does not decide the VAT on the payment or on the document — the supply kind does. It only feeds the Cena bez DPH: (price excl. VAT) hint on the Expres ceník (express prices) tab and serves as a fallback rate for documents of older payments
Cena bez DPH (price excl. VAT) the price that is stored; for a seller who is not VAT registered it is final
Cena s DPH (price incl. VAT) a helper field only, not stored. It is worked out from the rate of the chosen supply kind in the region's country (a region without a country → the country of the default seller). It works both ways: fill in the price incl. VAT and the base is worked out. If the kind has no rate in that country, or no kind is chosen yet, it stays empty
Konečná cena (final price) for a gateway with final prices enabled and for a price list in credits, a single field instead of the pair; the customer pays exactly this amount
Aktivní (active) unticked, the tariff cannot be bought through that gateway

The price incl. VAT is indicative

The field uses the rate of the region's country. What the customer really pays is decided only at payment, by their country and by whether they are a company with a verified VAT ID — a company from another EU state may thus pay just the base. See Taxes.

What is stored depends on what you do in the row:

What you do in the row What is stored
fill in a price and tick Active a price-list row; the tariff can be bought through that gateway
fill in a price without Active the price-list row is stored, but on the website the tariff is shown as "not available for purchase" through that gateway
leave the price empty nothing; the tariff cannot be bought through that gateway
clear a filled-in price the price-list row is removed
enter 0 a valid price of 0, not an empty field
tick Active without a price saving is refused with "An active price must be filled in — either enter a price or untick "Active"."

Prices in another currency are shown but not edited

If the tariff has old prices in a currency other than the one the gateway uses in the region (typically after the gateway's currency changed), the form shows them in the box "Prices in a currency the gateway does not use in the region". The website does not offer them to customers and saving the tariff leaves them unchanged. Enter a valid price in the row with the current currency.

Step by step: pricing a tariff#

  1. On the Základní (basic) tab choose the Druh plnění (supply kind) — without it the Cena s DPH field stays empty.
  2. Switch to the Ceník (price list) tab and fill in Cena bez DPH for the region and gateway. To start from the final amount, type it into Cena s DPH and the base is worked out for you.
  3. Tick Aktivní.
  4. Save, then open the payment form on the website and check that the amount matches.

Prices by region and gateway#

If a price is missing for the combination a customer is in, the item is not offered to them.

After adding a gateway or a region, go through every price list

Nothing reports it — the customer simply sees nothing. It applies to tariffs and to category price lists alike.

Paying by credit and by SMS#

Besides the usual gateways, payment is possible by credit or by premium SMS. SMS is configured on the tariff per region — the keyword, the phone number and the price.

The premium SMS price is entered as the FINAL price, including VAT

It is exactly the amount the customer pays the operator — they cannot pay any other. Beside the field the form computes and shows Cena bez DPH: (price excl. VAT, from the region's Sazba DPH on the Ceník tab). That is a hint for you only, it is not stored anywhere. Do not enter the price without tax here, or the document would disagree with what the customer actually paid.

Premium SMS depends on a contract with the operator

Without one the settings do nothing. It is not an option you can simply switch on.
