Account / Closing your account

Closing your account#

You can close your account yourself, without writing to the site operator. It is not closed straight away: after your request a grace period runs (usually 7 days; the operator sets the length). During it you can cancel the closure at any time. When the period ends, your personal data is removed from the account and it can no longer be used to sign in.

How the closure works#

How an account is closed: request, grace period, cancellation or anonymisation How an account is closed: request, grace period, cancellation or anonymisation

Steps: closing an account that has a password#

  1. Sign in and open Account deletion in your account menu.
  2. Read what happens when the account is closed (there is a summary further down this page).
  3. Enter your current password in the Password to confirm field.
  4. Click Delete my account.

As soon as you submit, the system signs you out on all devices and sends you an email with the closure date and a link to cancel it.

A wrong password counts as a failed sign-in

After several wrong attempts the form stops accepting the password for a while. Wait a few minutes, or reset the password first via Forgotten password.

Steps: closing an account without a password#

An account created with the Google, Facebook or Seznam button has no password. You confirm the request by email instead.

  1. On the Account deletion page leave the password field empty and click Delete my account.
  2. A link arrives at the account's email address. It is valid for 24 hours.
  3. Open it and click Confirm the account deletion.

Only this click makes the request take effect. From then on it works exactly as for an account with a password: you are signed out and receive an email with the closure date and a cancellation link.

What happens during the grace period#

  • You cannot sign in — neither with a password nor with the Google or Facebook button.
  • After entering the correct password (or after confirming with Google or Facebook) you see the page The account is awaiting deletion with the closure date and a Cancel the deletion button.
  • Signing in on its own does not restore the account. The closure stops only when you explicitly click to cancel it.

Steps: cancelling the closure#

There are two ways, and both work until the end of the grace period:

Way How
From the email open the link in the closure email and click Cancel the deletion. No sign-in needed
By signing in sign in as usual; on the page The account is awaiting deletion click Cancel the deletion

After cancelling you sign in as before and the account stays unchanged.

Opening the email link changes nothing on its own

The link only shows the button. If a mail preview or an antivirus scanner opens it, the account stays as it was — only your click decides.

The cancellation link works once

After a cancellation the link stops working. If you decide to close the account again, you submit a new request and receive a new email.

What happens when the grace period ends#

What What happens to it
Personal data deleted: name, email, phone, address, company details (company ID, VAT ID, company name), website, "about me" text and profile photo
Signing in no longer possible. Links to Google, Facebook or Seznam are removed
Adverts and company profiles hidden from the site (not deleted). Your contact details are removed from adverts: email, phone and street; the title, text, photos and price stay. A company profile keeps the company's contact details
Saved search alerts and followed adverts cancelled, so the notifications stop
Newsletter the address is unsubscribed
Posts, comments and reviews stay on the site; the author is shown as Deleted user and your email is removed from them. This also applies to the discussion under articles
Replies to adverts, bookings and messages stay with whoever you sent them to — without them the other party would lose their records
Orders, documents and payments kept unchanged for as long as the law requires

Your email and username become free again

After the closure you can register again with the same email and username. That creates a new, empty account — adverts, credits and order history are not carried over.
