Comments and ratings#
Two different things. A comment is text in the discussion under content. A rating is a star rating.
Comments#
They usually appear below articles, news items and products.
A comment is often approved first
It does not appear at once. You usually see it while others do not yet — so do not write it twice.
You can reply to a particular comment, so it is clear what you are responding to.
Do not put a question for the seller into a discussion
"When will my order arrive?" under a product description waits a long time for an answer. Use the contact form.
Rating a product#
Products are rated using a number of stars, along with text and separate pros and cons.
A good review#
| Instead of | Write |
|---|---|
| "Great, I recommend it" | what exactly is good about it |
| "Not very good" | what did not suit you and why |
| "Fast delivery" | that belongs to the shop, not the goods |
Say how long you have used it
A review after six months carries quite different weight from an unboxing impression.
Cons are not an attack
They are exactly what people read most closely. An honest review with cons is more useful than praise.
The seller's reply#
A seller can reply to a review. The reply appears beneath it.
A reply does not mean the seller changed anything
Your text stays as you wrote it.
Thumbs and reporting#
Reviews usually include thumbs-up ratings — the more useful they are, the higher they rank. They also include a report link.
Report only rule-breaking
Abuse, off-topic text, advertising. Not a review you disagree with.
Who may rate#
Depending on the site, anybody, only signed-in users, or only people who bought the goods may rate.
Restricting it to buyers is in your interest
There are fewer reviews, but they come from people who actually own the goods.
