Managing my adverts#
Everything around a finished advert happens on one screen with tabs — you open it through the advert's edit link.
- Signed-in users reach it from their account menu.
- Signed-out users can access it through the link in the email that arrived after posting, together with the advert password.
What is on which tab#
| Tab | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Advert | editing the text, price, photos and the other fields |
| Statistics | how many times people viewed the advert |
| Replies | messages from interested people — details |
| Extend | pushing the validity out; clickable only 2 days before expiry |
| Renew | appears instead of Extend once the advert has expired |
| Confirm | only when the advert is not confirmed yet and the site requires confirmation |
| Delete | permanent removal |
The tabs change with the advert's state
It is not a bug when one of them is missing: "Confirm" disappears once confirmed and "Renew" appears only after expiry. The tabs you see tell you what state the advert is in.
Procedure: editing an advert#
- Open the advert and click edit.
- If you are not signed in, enter the advert password.
- On the Advert tab change whatever you need.
- Save.
After entering the password you have two hours of access
Then it closes and you enter the password again.
An edit may mean re-approval
If the site requires confirmation, an edited advert may be invisible for a while. That is normal, just wait.
Lower the price in bigger steps
Anyone following the advert is notified on every price change — and only when the price, the price type or the currency changes. Ten small reductions in a week annoy people; editing the title or the photos, by contrast, notifies nobody.
Procedure: I forgot the advert password#
- Open the advert's edit link.
- Instead of entering the password, click send a new password.
- The system generates a new one and sends it to the email given in the advert — together with links to the advert and to its edit form.
- Sign in with the new password.
You do not have to post the advert again
Posting a new one would lose the replies, the followers and the view count.
The new password goes only to the email in the advert, nowhere else
That is deliberate — otherwise anyone could take over someone else's advert. If you lose access to that mailbox, you will need to ask the site operator and prove that the advert is yours.
Procedure: the advert's validity is running out#
- Before it expires you receive an email warning.
- Open the advert's edit screen and go to the Extend tab.
- Confirm the extension.
Extending is possible only 2 days before expiry
The tab is visible the whole time but cannot be clicked earlier. That is not a bug — if you could extend at any time, the validity period would mean nothing.
After expiry the advert disappears from the listings and is eventually deleted
An expired advert can be renewed (the Renew tab), but only until the system deletes it. After that there is nothing left to renew.
When the advert is not visible#
Go through this in order — it is sorted by how common each cause is:
- Did you confirm it with the link from the email? Without that it is not published. You can tell by the Confirm tab showing on the edit screen.
- Is the operator still approving it?
- Is it paid for, if the category is a paid one?
- Has it expired? Then you will see Renew instead of Extend.
- Has the operator blocked it?
A freshly posted advert may not be in search straight away
Search updates with a small delay. The advert is available immediately through a direct link — so if you can see it through the link but not in the results, just wait a moment.
Where to go next#
