Registration#

Creating an account. It takes a minute and saves you from typing your address every time.

Steps#

  1. Click register.
  2. Choose the account type. It is the first field and it decides the rest of the form — a business type reveals fields for the company ID and company name and, for some types, the VAT ID.
  3. Choose a username — at least 5 characters, and it must not be taken.
  4. Enter your email — it has to be valid and not already in use.
  5. Choose a password (at least 8 characters) and repeat it in the second field.
  6. Fill in your first name, last name, street, city, ZIP code and price region — these are required. Phone, country, website, the "About me" text and the photo are optional.
  7. Submit.

The form changes once you pick the account type

That is not a bug — a business account needs different details than a personal one. Switching the type makes fields appear or disappear.

The name and the email are checked against existing registrations

When the form says the name is taken, it is not a typo — somebody already has it. Choose another one.

Username#

You can sign in with your username or with the email from your account — see Signing in. The username is also shown next to your posts and on your public profile, and you cannot change it yourself later.

The password#

Longer beats more complicated

Three random words in a row are safer and easier to remember than eight characters with asterisks. The form requires at least eight characters — treat that as a floor, not as a recommendation.

Do not reuse a password you have elsewhere

If another site leaks it, you lose this account too. That goes double for an account holding your address and your orders.

Activating the account#

Whether confirmation by email is needed is set by the site. If it requires it, only the Account activation email with a link arrives after registering and the account is fully functional only once you click it. Otherwise the account works straight away and a New registration email with a summary arrives.

Not arrived? Look in your spam folder

Automated messages land there often. If it is not there either, have it sent again: on the sign-in page enter your username (or email) and click Resend activation email. Only if it does not arrive even then was there probably a typo in the address — register again with the correct email and a different username, because the original username and email stay taken.

The link is valid for 72 hours and works only once

If it expires, request a new one with the Resend activation email button next to the sign-in form. Each new email carries a new link and the previous one stops working.

The password you chose when registering is not sent to you by email — remember it, or set a new one later via Forgotten password.

Registering with Google, Facebook or Seznam#

If the site offers buttons for other services, clicking one creates the account and you do not have to choose a password. If you already have an account on the site with the same email, no new one is created — the service is linked to it. For an account with a password this happens only after you confirm a link sent by email. See Signing in.

An account created with a button has no password. You can set one via Forgotten password and then sign in without Google or Facebook too.

Different emails mean different accounts

If the service uses a different email from your account on the site, a second account is created and your orders and adverts end up split between the two.

Some websites give free credits for registering. They are added after you activate the account, whether you register with the form or with Google, Facebook or Seznam. Did you reach the registration through a link from someone who already has an account on the website? Your registration counts for them as a referral. Buying without registering#

You can also buy as a guest. But you fill in your address every time and you will not see an overview of your orders.

Orders placed as a guest are not linked to an account automatically

If you want everything in one place, register before your first purchase. Registering later will not merge the old orders.
