Following an advert#

Watching one particular advert. This differs from a saved search, which watches for new adverts.

How to follow#

On the advert, click follow or the heart. Followed adverts are in your account menu.

πŸ”΄ Alerts come only on a price change#

The system compares the triple of price, price type and currency. If any of them changes, an email goes out. Nothing else triggers an alert.

Changes to the description, title or photos do not alert you

Following an advert lets you catch a price drop. This is deliberate β€” otherwise fixing a typo in a title would email every follower.

You are not told when it sells either

If the seller marks it sold, no alert arrives β€” the advert simply leaves the listing.

An edit made in the administration sends nothing

If the site operator edits the advert (because of a blacklisted word, say), followers get no email even if the price changed.

What it is good for#

Follow what is currently too expensive for you

For things that typically come down in price it pays off. An advert sits with the seller and the price drops over time.

Follow what you are comparing too

Three followed adverts for the same item show where the price actually stands.

Unfollowing#

Click the heart again, or remove it from the followed list.

Go through the list once you have bought

Followed adverts accumulate and stop being useful.
